Carlo Ancelotti’s statements over Real Madrid winger, club legend to Brazil squad.
Carlo Ancelotti has officially begun his new journey as the head coach of the Brazil national football team. After leaving Real Madrid this past weekend, following a 2-0 win over Real Sociedad in their final La Liga match of the season, the Italian manager wasted no time in getting to work with the Brazilian team.
One of Ancelotti’s first major decisions as Brazil’s new boss was to announce the squad for their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches. Brazil is scheduled to face Ecuador and Paraguay in these important fixtures, and Ancelotti has named his first squad for the campaign.
As expected, Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr. has been included in the squad. Vinicius has been in excellent form and is one of the key players for both club and country, so his inclusion came as no surprise. Interestingly though, he is the only Real Madrid player called up to the national team this time.
This is because Rodrygo and Endrick, two other Brazilian stars from Real Madrid, are currently dealing with injuries and physical issues. Eder Militao, another Madrid player, recently returned from a long-term ACL injury and may not be fully ready for competitive action yet.

One of the most notable surprises in Ancelotti’s squad is the return of Casemiro, a former Real Madrid midfielder and Brazilian legend. Casemiro hasn’t played for the national team in the last two years. However, after finishing the season strongly at Manchester United, he’s earned a recall under the new management. Ancelotti clearly still believes in his qualities and leadership.
Meanwhile, back in Madrid, there has been another major development. Real Madrid have officially unveiled Xabi Alonso as their new manager. The club had already announced his appointment on Sunday, and now it’s official. Alonso, a former midfielder and club icon, has signed a three-year deal with the club, which will keep him at the helm until 2028.
Xabi Alonso is set to begin his managerial journey with Real Madrid right away. His first big test will be leading the team in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, which takes place next month.
So, while Ancelotti starts a new chapter with Brazil, a new era begins at Real Madrid under Xabi Alonso’s leadership.
