Breaking News: “He is a good player but I don’t need him in my squared” Xabi Alonso names a player he does not want in his team
Real Madrid’s new head coach, Xabi Alonso, has already started making big decisions about the squad for next season. One of the first players affected by these decisions is French left-back Ferland Mendy. According to reports from Fichajes, Alonso has told the club’s management that he does not want Mendy in his team plans going forward.
This has led Real Madrid’s board to start working on finding a way to sell or move Mendy during the upcoming summer transfer window. Even though Mendy signed a new contract not long ago, Alonso doesn’t think he is the right fit for his style of play. The Spanish coach prefers a different type of player in that position and wants to bring in someone new who suits his tactical ideas better.
Mendy has had a tough few years at Madrid. His time at the club has been affected by several problems, including injuries that kept him off the pitch for long periods. When he has played, his performances have not been very consistent, and his confidence has taken a hit. Because of this, Mendy’s value in the transfer market has gone down, making it more difficult and costly for Madrid to sell him. His contract still runs until 2027, which means the club would either need to find a team willing to pay a good fee or possibly consider a loan deal.
Despite these challenges, the club is determined to reduce the number of left-back options and bring in someone who matches Alonso’s vision for the team. After looking at several possible signings, one name has stood out more than the others—Álvaro Carreras.
Carreras is a young Spanish defender who currently plays for Benfica in Portugal. Interestingly, he used to be part of Real Madrid’s youth academy before leaving to develop his career elsewhere. Since moving to Portugal, Carreras has improved a lot and is now seen as a strong, reliable left-back with plenty of potential for the future.
Xabi Alonso is said to be a big fan of Carreras and has given his approval for the club to try and bring him back. Reports suggest that Carreras is very close to returning to Madrid on a long-term contract that would keep him at the club until 2031. However, there is still one problem—the transfer fee.
Benfica are asking for around €50 million for Carreras. Real Madrid, however, think that price is too high and are trying to negotiate a lower fee. Talks between the two clubs are still ongoing, and both sides hope to reach an agreement soon.
With Alonso now in charge and determined to build a team that fits his football ideas, it looks like Mendy’s time at the Santiago Bernabéu is coming to an end. If the deal for Carreras goes through, he could become the first major signing of the Alonso era. The next few weeks will be very important in deciding who will be the main left-back for Real Madrid next season.
